CARIBBEAN Eco-Tourism..

TOP Places to Visit in The Caribbean for Eco-Tourism..

Dominica, Costa Rica, Belize, Bonaire and Mexico are amongst the top destinations for Eco-tourists in the Caribbean..

With the best Eco-lodges listed in Belize, Dominica and Guadeloupe; Jungle Bay Dominica, Tendacayou Eco-Lodge and Spa in Guadaloupe, Natura Cabana in the Dominican Republic, Tiamo in Bahamas and Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize, which is the brainchild of famed Movie Director Francis Ford Copppola; were all listed in 2014 by Caribbean Journal as being some of the best places to visit in the Caribbean for the earth conscious traveler.
CuisinArt in Anguilla is an interesting unique concept for Eco-Tourism as it boasts the Caribbeans first resort supplied by its own Hydroponic farm where they grow all their own food and ingredients, growing 90 % of its supplies in greenhouses, they even recycle the water from the drainage to use for watering the landscape.

Another interesting concept is Concordia EcoTents in the luxurious destination of St John in the Virgin Islands, here you can take part in the "Trash to Treasures" program, where guests recycle refuse and make it into craft items and fine art. The resort offers a glass studio, clay studio and even a textile department and gallery. The tents are actually rather more like canvas villas with screens and all fully fitted with modern amenities. Set on the border of the Virgin Islands National park there is plenty here also on offer for the more physically active guests who like to get out and explore.

Here in Jamaica although the island is not synonymous with Eco-tourism its actually a great place to start in the Caribbean as the landscape on the island is diverse and boasts a lot of unexplored territories for the more adventurous, rustic traveler to explore. You can find green based tours such as Mystic Mountain, Blue Mountain Bicycle Tours, Rafting on the Rio Grande or even taking a tour through Culture Yard and the world famous home of Bob Marley Trenchtown and/or his resting place in 9 miles in the hills of St Ann. In terms of accommodation Hotel Mockingbird in Port Antonio boasts that its Jamaica's best eco-chic boutique hotel, Green Castle Estate in Robin's Bay St Mary also offers an Eco-Tourism experience set in an historical Estate, whilst Jakes in Treasure beach is the most popular brand, as its part of the Island Outpost group, is a well known boutique resort with a commitment to sustainable tourism, that actively involves the local community in events such as Farm to Table dinners

These lush, tropical locations provide the ultimate experience for Green Tourism, The adventurous, free-spirited types who want to find an alternative to the usual bustling, cliche tourist destinations in the Caribbean region such as St Lucia, Barbados, Trinidad etc and at the same time contribute something positive to the local communities and support a greener more sustainable brand of tourism.
