TOP Places to Visit in The Caribbean for Eco-Tourism..



Dominica, Costa Rica, Belize, Bonaire and Mexico are amongst the top destinations for Eco-tourists in the Caribbean..


With the best Eco-lodges listed in Belize, Dominica and Guadeloupe; Jungle Bay Dominica, Tendacayou Eco-Lodge and Spa in Guadaloupe, Natura Cabana in the Dominican Republic, Tiamo in Bahamas and Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize, which is the brainchild of famed Movie Director Francis Ford Copppola; were all listed in 2014 by Caribbean Journal as being some of the best places to visit in the Caribbean for the earth conscious traveler.

The resort offers a glass studio, clay studio and even a textile department and gallery. The tents are actually rather more like canvas villas with screens and all fully fitted with modern amenities. Set on the border of the Virgin Islands National park there is plenty here also on offer for the more physically active guests who like to get out and explore.


Here in Jamaica although the island is not synonymous with Eco-tourism its actually a great place to start in the Caribbean as the landscape on the island is diverse and boasts a lot of unexplored territories for the more adventurous, rustic traveler to explore. Whilst pondering on the current issues in the Caribbean this song came to mind - so many versions of these old ska classics, still this is one of the best! Justin Hines and the Dominoes.. Carry go Bring home! This Carry go bring come home, bring misery! This is so true - but still I think the idea of a unified Caribbean is a GREAT one and should not be ignored. The question that comes to mind to me today is does CARICOM really serve the purpose its meant to serve, are we really able to unify because we are a relatively small part of the global economy, relying largely on foreign income from tourism and working as a T.E.A.M would be more profitable if we could put away with some of the old, worn out sterotypes and cynicism that prevents Jamaicans from getting along with some of their neighbours. Caribbean BES!

The ABC Islands of the Caribbean of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are located east of Central America and North of the coast of Venezuela. Island municipalities of the Netherlands formerly known as the Netherlands Antilles until the dissolution on 10th October 2010 when Bonaire became a special municipality, still part of the Netherlands. Also one of three of the BES islands in the Caribbean (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba). Bonaire has a total land area of just 111sq miles with a population of only 20,000 approximately many of whom are Dutch nationals.  The National Dish is called " Stoba Kabritu" which is Papiamento for stewed goat meat. Goat meat is the  national dish of Bonaire  simply because of how many goats populated the island . One of the unique attractions on the island although not open to visitors is a Flamingo wildlife sanctuary...
